Acne can be a tough thing to deal with, especially if you’ve suffered from it for a long time. For a lot of us, there aren’t many products out there that actually help. No matter what you seem to do, those pesky pimples keep coming back, and so in the end, it can get a little expensive to keep up with buying new products or new treatments all the time. Thankfully, there are other ways you can clear up your acne the natural way! Here are 7 ways to ward off acne and pimples for good!
1. Baking Soda
Most of us already have baking soda in our own homes, so there’s no need to go out and buy anything. Baking soda is a great exfoliant for the skin so you’ll want to mix it with a little bit of water in order to form a paste. Gently massage it onto the skin for 10-15 seconds and rinse off. The baking soda will gently remove the dead skin cells without all the harsh chemicals found in other scrubs and exfoliants.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Although a lot of people tend to use apple cider vinegar to ward off acne, you can also use regular vinegar. Vinegar is excellent in clearing up your skin as it kills off the acne-causing bacteria, balances your skins pH and absorbs extra oil. Starting with clean, dry skin, apply diluted vinegar (eight parts water to one part vinegar) directly to your skin with a cotton ball, and leave it on. If you want, you can also use a stronger vinegar solution (say, 2 or 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar), and apply it directly to problem areas, rinsing it off after ten minutes. Lime or lemon juice can also be used instead of vinegar since both of these are rich in citric acid.
3. Egg Whites
Egg whites are rich in protein so and can be used as a mask to heal your skin. Crack an egg open, remove the yolk and leave only the egg white behind. Whisk the egg white and apply to your face. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off!
4. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is great for removing impurities and absorbing oil and it’s been known to help tremendously with clearing up acne. Just cook regular oatmeal like you would for eating, and let it cool down. Apply the oatmeal to your face like you would a mask and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse and pat dry.
5. Tea Tree Oil
You can purchase tea tree oil at any drugstore and it’s absolutely great for treating acne and pimples. Just apply the oil over the affected area, or, if you wish to apply it over your entire face, dilute the tea tree oil with something else such as jojoba oil.
6. Panthotenic Acid (Vitamin B5)
Panthotenic acid is great for clearing up acne and must be used in big quantities in order for it to have any effect. This acid works by helping your body metabolize fats which would normally turn into sebum and eventually secrete through the skin.
7. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is usually used for burns, but did you know you can also use it to rid your skin of acne scars? Just apply a little bit of Aloe Vera gel onto the scars and use it once a day until the scarring is gone.
